By registering, you agree we may contact you via email, text, or call for course information or marketing, and process your data per our privacy policy. Classes require scheduled attendance and completion of an eCourse sent 30 days ahead; valid email is necessary.
Motorcycle Safety classes at Greenville Technical College are provided by Upstate Rider Training (URT) for all skill levels. The Basic Rider Course (BRC) includes two days of riding, 5-6 hours each day. Complete the eCourse at least 48 hours before class and show proof on day one. A motorcycle permit is needed for waiver paperwork; study materials are online.
Physical & Health Requirements:
- Minimum age: 15 years & 6 months (with parent permission)
- Minimum height: 4'11" or 26" inseam
- Maximum weight: 315 lbs
- Must walk up to 1 mile
Other Terms:
- Fees must be paid upfront via Greenville Technical College registration.
- $25 refund processing fee; 7-day cancellation notice required for refunds. No-shows and late arrivals forfeit fees.
- SC Motorcycle permit or license required at every course.
- Students agree to receive text reminders for pre-work.
- Courses may be rescheduled due to mechanical issues.
- Valid ID and completed eCourse required.
- URT is not liable for injuries or damages; students indemnify URT for breaches of terms.
- Terms can change without notice.
- Training refused for anyone under the influence; no refund.
Required Gear:
- DOT helmet covering ears (with shield or glasses)
- Long sleeves, pants, sturdy over-the-ankle shoes/boots (no canvas)
- Full-fingered gloves, eye protection if no helmet shield, rain suit if needed
- Bicycle riding ability
Motorcycle riding carries risks; riders are responsible for their actions.
For Students Under 18:
Minors must register in person with a guardian. Online registration without consent forfeits fee and seat. Permit must be held for 180 days before endorsement test unless previously licensed.
SC Permit Renewals: After three failed skills tests, permits are not renewed; training and retest at DMV required.
No Shows:
Call at least 7 days prior to reschedule; only one rescheduling allowed. Second missed class forfeits fee.
