Greenville Tech has partnered with Greenville County to teach the practice of emergency healthcare delivery to patients who become unexpectedly ill or injured. The course focuses on the role and competencies of the prehospital care provider and exposes the student to the many psychological, social, behavioral, economic and environmental factors in the health of individuals and populations. Students will learn though reading assignments, in person lectures, hands on skills labs and ride time with 911 EMS services. Following successful course completion, students will take a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) cognitive examination and become certified as a South Carolina EMT. This course is partnered through Greenville County EMS (GCEMS) students will have four 12-hour ride times scheduled with GCEMS. These ride times will be scheduled through the course instructor/clinical coordinator. Students will need to pay for a background check, drug screening, immunizations, and a physical exam. An entrance exam is required. Students will need to purchase pants, boots and a belt appropriate for EMS work.
Prerequisite: “ Fisdap EMT Entrance Exam with Enhanced Security.”
