This class is the first step toward becoming certified with AAPC (CPC). After this class, it is highly recommended to complete the AAPC Course.
Job Options after Certification: coder in a physician's office, staffing facility, or other healthcare areas.
Training includes: ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare/Medicaid billing and coding procedures.
PRE-REQUISITES: HS Diploma or GED. Participants must have completed Medical Terminology and Fundamentals of Anatomy AHS527 and AHS569.
What is coding?
Medical coding transforms medical services, procedures, and diagnoses into numeric codes. These codes are assigned by the medical coder based on the information in the patient's medical record. Codes are necessary in order to obtain reimbursement from third-party payers as well as provide statistical data for research and development.
